About FBOCS
So what's this blog about anyway?
It should be pretty obvious, but it's all about the beer.
The story behind this blog goes something like this. A couple years ago, I realized that every Friday, I got home from the office, reached into the beer fridge and tapped a refreshing cold and preferably, craft or micro brew. One Friday, I posted a picture of my Friday beer selection on flickr and shared it with some friends online. The next week, I did the same with a different brew. Thats when I started to get replies and messages from friends about the selection, and then it hit me. I started to think more about the different beers available and how limited I was in my knowledge of the subject. That's when I decided to feature a new beer that I have not had the pleasure to enjoy and share with friends each week, Friday afternoon at "Beer O'Clock".
For a while, it continued as simple picture posts to flickr and shared across a couple social network sites. As I started trying more and more beers, I learned about the different varieties, flavors, styles and so on. The more I learned, the more I shared and soon I started writing simple reviews of what I thought of each beer - good and bad. The response was pretty good and I was starting to have more conversations about beer, learning more and developing a greater appreciation for it. Today, that idea has grown into the blog you see before you - Friday Beer O'Clock Selections - and continues to feature a new previously un-featured brew with completely novice review.
For me, it's all about the learning experience, sharing that experience and talking with other people that like to enjoy a good brew now and then. Through the Friday Beer O'Clock Selections, I have introduced some people to brews they would have never considered - while I have also received some great suggestions that have become favorites and others I have yet to taste.
