Chimay Red - Friday Beer O'Clock Selection for 3-5-2010
This week's selection was Chimay Red Trappist.
Produced by the Cistercian Trappist monks of Chimay at the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Scourmont.
Appearance is a cloudy, almost opaque, and golden brown in color. It poured with creamy head 1-2 fingers.
This particular brew reminded me a lot of the Sam Adams Tripel I featured a few weeks back regarding both taste and smell.
Feel was thick and velvety as expected from the appearance.
Aromas were sweet and a bit fruity, but I couldn't place the fruity flavor.
Flavors were rich with a light bitterness.
Over all a good brew.
